A joint DLP-Asia Foundation workshop on the Political Dimensions of Development Programming was held in Canberra, Australia, on 2nd and 3rd December 2010 for staff of AusAID and other Australian government departments. Sessions were devoted to Thinking Politically: An Analytical Basis for Working Politically; Working Through Political Strategies for Reform; and Using Analytical Tools. Cases studies and exercises were used to illustrate various forms and outcomes of working politically in the context of development challenges in Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Philippines, East Timor and Samoa. The workshop was part of a program intended to extend and deepen understanding about the political dimensions of reform and working politically in a developmental context. Further workshops are to be held in Canberra, Manila, Port Moresby and Dili.
